Childhood Memories + Present Passion

A fun collaboration of fashion and childhood characters. It puts a smile on :)

In celebration of the 40th birthday of Sesame Street
and in collaboration with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, we asked our favorite Muppets to school us on their personal sense of style. After all, where would Bert be without his stripes, or Oscar without his garbage can (metallics are so chic)? Check out our fashion photo shoot on Sesame Street [Harpers].

HB: Will minimalism ever go out of style?

Grover:
Yes! Or no... Maybe! Let us go with maybe. I am not sure what you are talking about.

HB: How do you feel about grunge?

Oscar the Grouch: Hey, I invented grunge! It's a look I've been sporting for years!

HB: Vertical or horizontal stripes?

Ernie: Gee, what's the difference? Stripes are always in fashion! That's why I always wear them. Every day.

HB: When you wear clothes, what is your outfit of choice?

Elmo:
Whatever Elmo's mommy picks out! But it's always cool. Elmo's VERY stylin'!

HB: What are your clothing essentials — for instance, are pockets for cookies a must-have?

Cookie Monster: Why would me need pockets for cookies? Cookies no go in pockets — cookies go in mouth!

HB: Is any outfit better with feathers?

Big Bird: I know I never leave home without them!

Harper's Bazaar: Vertical or horizontal stripes?

Bert: Lines that are straight up and down say "Look at me! I am orderly! Rigid! Unbending!" I love a fashion statement like that!
HB: Does wearing a fairy skirt make a girl feel empowered?

Abby: I feel that way no matter what I wear. I just like dressing in a skirt. It's got good ventilation.
