Svedka Inauguration Party, Los Angeles.

I had the opportunity to work the black carpet guest list for the Svedka Inauguration Party last week at Guy's. I was pretty psyched for the whole event because I have never been to an official vodka company sponsored party, never met celebrities, never seen a red (black) carpet besides in Westwood, never worked with press and never been to Guy's.

It was quite an experience. I helped set up press spots behind the nightclub, along the black carpet. The Svedka backdrop was already in place and everything was basically ready. I got to tour the nightclub/lounge
and it was a nice place.. smaller than I thought it would be though.. Guy's is exclusive and usually only open to celebrities and their entourage, and parties for people in the entertainment industry. But vodka sponsored party=free cocktails all night. jyeaaaa.

I was stationed at the front in the beginning and led the press to their assigned spaces. After most of the press had gotten there, I stood in the back and listened quietly to L, with whom I would be working with all night. She was small but her voice carried and the press listened in but most probably knew how the process went.

Nervousness hit me as I was given the guestlist and the tip sheet for the night. I was also given a celeb photo index so that I wouldn't ask a famous person for their name and embarass myself. I knew most of the faces of the people on the list, I just had to match a few names to unfamiliar faces.

From 8pm-12am, I stood in the back and directed people inside, checked off celebrities and their guests, and watched as they had their pictures taken by E! online, wireimage, and many other media outlets. It was
eye-opening to see how the industry, and black carpet, worked. I thought that it was chaos on the red carpet based on pictures I had seen. But it was so orchestrated. A celebrity was annouced, photoogs got a chance to take pictures, and at the end, there were video media outlets to ask a few questions and have a short interview. I figure it was pretty low-key and slow because it was not a high profile event as Svedka would have liked it to be.

I was exhausted by the end of the night. The last celebrity worth waiting for had gone inside and we wrapped up in the back. I went in and had a cocktail and walked around. That took five minutes. The crowd was small (what do you expect on inauguration night, on a Tuesday?). It didnt seem like much of a big deal and wondered what all the hype was about. A couple of friends were together. They texted and I decided to head back home.

I got a chance to meet and shake hands with a handful of celebrities that I knew.. that was a pleasant experience.
