Good Timing?

Interesting alliance among ad groups has gone public in hopes of fending off federal regulation, just as a new Congress is about to take over Capitol Hill.

"The groups envision a set of guidelines for how online advertisers can collect and use data, as well as standards for notifying users when and how their data are being used."

And behavioral targeting..

"Behavioral marketing provides enormous benefits to consumers, but it is our responsibility as marketers to ensure the web-surfing public's privacy interests remain protected," said Bob Liodice, ANA president-CEO."

This article was interesting because it tied in the advertising industry to the shift in political power. I never thought or considered how Congress' decisions on web privacy and federal regulation affects the advertising industry and new methods of reaching out to consumers. Very eye opening.
